Eddie Brown, Owner

Funeral Director & Embalmer/ Preneed-Life Insurance Agent

Eddie is the founder and owner of Brown's Funeral Service. Having discovered at age 12 of having an interest in funeral service it was a lifelong dream to become not only a Funeral Director and Embalmer he wanted to own and operate his own Funeral Service. Eddie was the fifth child of seven (first son) born to A.E."Aus" and Annie (Goff) Brown, lifelong Marshall County (Madill-Kingston area) pioneers. Eddie graduated from Madill High School with the class of '67. Eddie served his first Funeral Director/Embalmers apprentiship in 1976 and worked everyday toward being licensed. After a 20+ year career in grocery and real estate business he made the opportunity happen to go back to college and then to Dallas Institute of Funeral Service where he was class president and recieved Scholastic Acheivement Award. 
Brown's has grown to 5 locations since aquiring Durant Funeral Home in 1994. Eddie is a 33 year member of the Lions Club, a member of Atoka Masonic Lodge #4, Oklahoma Funeral Directors Association and The National Funeral Directors Assn. and all the area Chambers of Commerce where we have locations. Eddie served as City Councilman, Police and Fire Commissioner and as Mayor in Tishomingo. Eddie is a licensed Life Insurance agent and a pre-need councilor.

Mike Overton, FDIC

Funeral Director & Embalmer/  Preneed-Life Insurance Agent


Mike is a life long resident of Durant and the son of Don Overton and Judy and Billy Hauk. He graduated from Durant Public Schools in 1988 and attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University. He went to work for Brown's Funeral Service in October 2004 and graduated from the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service in May 2006. He is married to his wife Dana, and they are proud parents of one son, Dylan who is a student at Durant High School. They are members of the First Baptist Church in Durant. Mike believes that Funeral Service is the most rewarding profession he could have chosen and to be able to bring a little peace and happiness to the families that he serves in their time of grief is very satisfying.  



Shanda (Brown) & Ryan Olmstead

Funeral Directors & Embalmers ~ licensed in Oklahoma and Arkansas 

Preneed- Life Insurance Agents

Shanda Brown Olmstead, born in Ardmore, OK, to Tommy and Vickie Brown of Madill, OK.  Her brother is Grant Brown, currently of Illinois.  After graduating from Madill High Shcool Shanda attended Dallas Institute of Funeral Service.  While attending mortuary school, Shanda met Ryan Olmstead of Arkansas who was also attending school there.  After graduating they married and had a daughter, Abby, who now attends Atoka Elementary School.  After working as funeral directors in Arkansas, Ryan and Shanda moved to Oklahoma to join the staff of Brown's Funeral Service.  They are both licensed funeral directors and embalmers in the states of Oklahoma and Arkansas.  Ryan and Shanda are available to help any family at their time of need.

Ryan Olmstead is a 5th generation Funeral Director born in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1975.  Ryan attended the Universtiy of Arkansas, majoring in Finance before attending mortuary school in Dallas.  While attending the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service, Ryan met Shanda Brown from Madill.  After graduating together they later married and had a daughter Abby.  After working as funeral directors in Arkansas, Ryan and Shanda moved to Oklahoma to join the staff of Brown's Funeral Service.  Ryan and wife Shanda are both licensed funeral directors and embalmers in both Oklahoma and Arkansas.  Ryan and Shanda are available to help families during their time of need at any of our locations.



Chad John

Funeral Director & Embalmer / Preneed- Life Insurance Agent

Chad John was raised in a family of five children.  Their father was a Methodist pastor.  The family moved to Bennington in 1982.  Chad graduated from Bokchito High School in 1989.  He then attended the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service where he graduated in 1992.

After graduation Chad served as a funeral director/embalmer apprentice from 1992 to 1993 working for Brad Whinery, owner of Rose Chapel Funeral Services, with locations in Elk City, Sayre, Cheyenne, and Erick, Oklahoma.

Chad became a licensed mortician in 1993 and moved to Skiatook, OK, where he worked for Keith Stumpff at Peters-Stumpff Funeral Home, one of many locations in the Tulsa area.  In January 1996, Chad had the opportunity to move back to Durant where he worked for James Dalton.

Chad joined the staff of Brown's Funeral Service in October 2009.  He has three wonderful children; Emalee, Chay, and Justin.  Chad is also a member of Victory Life Church in Durant.

Chad has a passion for his work and compassion for the families who are dealing with an emotional and difficult time in their lives. 



D'Ray Beauchamp

Funeral Director/ Embalmer

D'Ray Beauchamp was born in Norman, OK to Darrell Keith and the late Brenda Keith of Washington, OK.  D'Ray has two siblings Kody and Lana Keith both of Washington, OK.  D'Ray graduated from Washington High School then attended Carl Albert State College then went on to mortuary school at University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond.  D'Ray met her husband Brandon while attending Carl Albert and after graduating from UCO they married and are now the proud parents of 2 children, Avery and Blane.  D'Ray and her family live in Mead.



Frankie L. Chalk

Family Service Counselor & Funeral Assistant 

Frankie Chalk was born February 18, 1967.  He is the son of Joyce French and the late Jerry Chalk, and the stepson of Wallace French.

Frankie was born in Durant and has been a life-long resident of Bryan County.  Frankie attended Durant Public Schools, graduating from Durant High School in 1986.

He worked many years in the health industry in positions in home health and in the nursing homes before coming to Brown's Funeral Service in 2006.
