Donald W. "Rusty' Goin

Donald W. (Rusty) Goin of Caddo, OK went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 8, 2024 suddenly and unexpectedly. He was born in Dallas, TX on March 14,1948 to Raymond and Dorothy (Joyce) Goin. Rusty is survived by his loving wife, Nancy, daughters Lisa and Stacy, sons Donald and Joshua, Aunt Betty and brother, Bobby. They have eight grandchildren, Douglas, Brandon, Lindsey, Adam, Aidan, Grayson, Rylan and Declan as well as seven great grandchildren, Jeremiah, Alyssa, Clancy, Raven, Finley, Olivia and Douglas Jr. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am on April 27th, 2024, in Durant, OK at Fusion Bible Church. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that any donations be made to Volunteer Christian Builders either online or sent to Volunteer Christian Builders, 340 Georgia Ann, Pleasanton, TX 78064. Rusty became a Dallas Police Officer at the age of 20, before he was old enough to buy bullets for his gun. He served in various positions over his 30-year career and was the recipient of numerous awards and commendations including the Police Medal of Valor and Meritorious Conduct Award. He spent the last 17 years of his career with the Dallas Police Motorcycle Unit fulfilling a lifelong passion for motorcycles. He began riding motorcycles at a young age, an activity and hobby that intertwined his personal and professional life. He and Nancy traveled all 50 states on a motorcycle as well as Mexico, Novia Scotia, Canada and many countries in Europe. It was on one such trip through Oklahoma that they found an ideal retirement spot. They moved from Dallas to Salina, OK upon his retirement, where they would spend the next 25 years enjoying the “Double Six Ranch.” Rusty loved the idyllic countryside and all the hard work that came with it. He found great happiness in having the ranch as a gathering place for many friends and family over the years. He joined Harley Davidson shortly after retirement to lead rider experience events across the United States. His time with Harley Davidson allowed him time to combine his enthusiasm for motorcycles and travel for another ten years. Throughout this time, he and Nancy continued to pursue their Faith and actively worked to help others. Rusty and Nancy were members of Trinity Bible Church in Dallas for 14 years. Upon moving to OK, they became members of the First Baptist Church of Salina, where they worshiped for over 20 years. They joined Fusion Bible Church in 2021 after moving to Caddo, OK. They joined Volunteer Christian Builders in 2011 to share God’s grace by helping build churches across the U.S. Rusty was able to marry his construction and carpentry skills with his Christian values completing over 130 projects as a Crew Chief. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family and close friends and countless others who were touched by his warmth and generosity. His favorite verse was 1st Thessalonians 4:11. “Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and work with your hands.” A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on April 27th, 2024, in Durant, OK at Fusion Bible Church.
