Weldon W. Brown

Weldon W. Brown, of Caddo, was born November 9, 1940 in Lubbock, Texas to James Clinton and Ioway Bell (Claunch) Brown. Weldon went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 8, 2014 in Gainesville, Texas at the age of 73 years, 8 months and 30 days. On August 24, 1963 Weldon and Janie Moore were united in marriage in Spanish Fort, Montague County, Texas. Weldon attended New Mexico State University receiving his Bachelors Degree and Texas Tech University where he played football. Weldon was a rancher and loved to work. A founding member of the Caddo Round Up Club and the Quarterback Club for Caddo School in 1970, along with being a member of the Elks Lodge and the Masons, Weldon always kept himself busy and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. In his free time, Weldon enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren along with photography and gardening. Weldon is preceded in death by his parents, James and Ioway Brown; step mother, Nedra Brown; grandson, Tyler Scott Brown Mitchell. Survivors include Weldon’s loving wife, Janie Brown of the home; children, Scott Brown and wife Delaine of Durant, Carol Hodge and husband David of Caddo, Misty Behan and husband Martin of North Richland Hills, TX, Bill (Butch) Henson and wife Shelagh of Ardmore; brother, Coy Brown and wife Barbara of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Chase, Ashlea, and Kylin Brown, Ciera, Randa, and Dalton Houser, Collin, Brendan, and Jocelyn Behan, Heidi Bryant, Heather and Hilary Henson; four step grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Services to celebrate the life of Weldon will be held Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the Victory Life Church in Durant, with Pastor Duane Sheriff and Pastor Stephen Nation officiating. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery in Caddo with Kevin Keener, Tom Jones, Terry Reece, Ronnie Marshall, Stanley Hopkins, James Simmons, Robert Wingfield and Jarred Stanley serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jake Edwards, Hayes Hammonds, Utah Nation and all of the other coffee drinkers of the Caddo Superette Spit Whittle Club.
