Alton J. "Muggs" Culbreath

Alton J. “Muggs” Culbreath entered this life on August 26, 1934 in Caddo, OK. Alton went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 26, 2016 in Denison, TX at the age of 82 years. Muggs started school at Maytubby and went on to attend Caney and Caddo schools. He married Joy Clark on December 16, 1957 in Durant, OK. Muggs worked for J.C. Potter Sausage Company for 37 years. He spent his retirement years with his family, friends and helping others. Muggs loved watching his grandchildren participate in all of their activities. Muggs also loved working outdoors. He was a member of Blue Baptist Church, and served as a Deacon for many years. He was a devoted church member and thoroughly enjoyed being involved with his church family. When Muggs wasn’t spending time with his family, you could find him at McDonald’s drinking coffee and visiting with his friends. He loved playing 42 with his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles and Kathy Clark. He was a devoted Christian, family man, and friend, and he will be missed dearly by all that knew and loved him. Preceding him in death are his parents; 5 brothers; and 6 sisters. Alton is survived by his wife, Joy Culbreath of Durant; daughters, Stacy Shepherd and husband, Danny, Paula Harp and husband, Mike, all of Durant, and Richelle Acker and husband, Mickey of Nashville, TN.; grandchildren, Chad Harp and wife, Sarah of Calera, Evan Rowland and wife, Sarah of Coalgate, Lauren Rowland of Durant, Micha Gilbert and husband, Matt of Alexandria, VA, and Tyler Acker and wife, Kelsey of Smyrna, TN; brother, Bill Culbreath of Skiatook; great-grandchildren, Dillon, Alton, Samuel, Vera, and Oakley Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at First Baptist Church, Durant with Pastor Randy Lewis and Pastor Dale Ballard officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Monday, August 29, 2016 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Blue Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be his sons-in-law, Danny Shepherd, Mike Harp, and Mickey Acker; and grandsons, Chad Harp, Evan Rowland, and Tyler Acker.
