Alvin Gerald Hayes

Alvin Gerald Hayes, 85, of Madill, Oklahoma, passed away surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on April 4, 1941, to George Albert Hayes and Mamie Lucile Eaves Hayes. In his early years, Alvin was an active member of his community in Lockney, Texas. He proudly served with the Lockney Fire Department, was a member of the Rotary Club and Lions Club, and served as commissioner of the Lockney Baseball Program. He worked as Parts Manager for Johnson & Johnson Auto in Lockney before later working the cotton harvest with Tommy Hays of Plainview, Texas. Alvin eventually made his home in Madill, Oklahoma, on beautiful Lake Texoma, where he lived to tend to his garden, taking care of his and others lawns, and raising chickens. This is also where he spent some of the happiest years of his life with his two sons and his lifetime love, Mona Kaye. Alvin loved sports, dancing, and spending time outdoors, but nothing meant more to him than his family. He treasured every holiday, reunion, and family gathering and never passed up a good game of dominoes. He was known for his laughter, his love for those around him, and the memories he created with everyone fortunate enough to know him. He is survived by his sons, Alvin Bryan Hayes and Sheila, and Kelly Lane Hayes; his brothers, Ronnie Hayes and wife Hopi, Cleatis Hayes and wife Betty, and Joe Hayes and wife Tina; his sisters, Shirley Hayes, June Hays and husband Tommy, Rita Brown and husband JR. , and Lesca Durham; his grandchildren, Garrett and wife Amber Hayes, Shelby Lawson and husband Kyle, Gunner Hayes, Brianna Hayes, Christen, and Dusty; his great-grandchildren, Briston, Cooper, Hudson, Haden, Luna, Lyra and Kaelyn; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents; his lifetime love, Mona Kaye Hayes Braddock; his brothers, Larry Dennis Hayes, Royce Hayes and wife Marilyn, Roland Hayes and brother-in-law, Danny Durham. Alvin lived life to the fullest. He laughed, he loved, and he gave his heart to those around him. Though his time on earth has come to an end, the love, lessons, and memories he leaves behind will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. A memorial service to honor the life of Alvin will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. at Brown’s Funeral Service in Durant, Oklahoma. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lockney Cemetery, the Lockney Baseball Association, or the Lockney Fire Department.
