Billy James Goins II

Billy James Goins II was born Sunday, July 8, 1962 in Santa Maria, California to Rev. Billy James Goins Sr. and Janis Annette (Alsup) Goins. Billy passed from this life on Monday, August 9, 2021 in Denison, Texas at the age of 59. Billy married Monica McGee on February 2, 1997 in Corona, California. They came to Bryan County in 2017 from Hemet, California. Billy grew up in his hometown of Lone Pine, California. Billy furthered his education at Vanguard University, Oklahoma University, UC Riverside, Cal State University San Bernardino, AMU and KTC Auto Mechanics School. He was a Teacher, Behavioral Support Specialist, Counselor, Basketball Coach, Interim Principal, Grant Writer, and helped start three Military Charter Schools. Major Goins is an accomplished soldier serving in the United States military. His dedicated service began with the United States Navy in June 1985 and continued with the Navy Reserves for several years. Billy also spent many years with the Army and Army National Guard for a total of sixteen years of total service to our Country. He fought during Desert Shield / Desert Storm and earned many honors, medals and commendations such as Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal w/ Bronze Service Star, Air Assault Badge and Expert Marksmanship Badge Rifle. Billy was very involved and instrumental with the Choctaw Nation Color Guard, a Volunteer firefighter in the Silo area, Choctaw Code Talkers, Victory Life Security Officer, Boswell Police Officer, and the Life Group Leadership at Victory Life Church. Billy was a twenty-year member of Valley Vista Assembly of God in Hemet, California, and a member of Victory Life Church in Durant the past five years. Billy enjoyed cooking with his family and friends. He was a mentor to many people he came in contact with and would help anyone in need. Billy spent numerous hours researching his ancestry and lineage. He loved the outdoors where he spent a lot of time fishing and hunting. Billy’s joy was spending time with his loving family. Billy was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Billy James Goins; grandparents, James & Gladys Goins and Ben & Vivian Alsup; brother-in-law, Ronald Pounds; aunts, Sue Alsup, Ada Nickell, and Audrey Reed; uncles, Mike Alsup, Bob Blagg, and Ed Nickell. He is survived by his loving wife, Monica McGee Goins; son, Billy James Goins III and his significant other, Brianna; daughter, Sarah Goins; granddaughter, Marceli Goins; grandson, Billy James Goins IV (who is due January 2022) all of Silo, Oklahoma; his mother, Rev. Janis Alsup Goins, of Smiths Station, Alabama; father-in-law, Edward McGee and his wife, Evelyn, of Moreno Valley, California; brother, Randy Goins and his wife, Vyckie, of San Bernardino, California; sisters, Cindy Goins Pounds, of Smiths Station, Alabama, Leisa Goins Cierley and her husband, Herb, of Smiths Station, Alabama, Donna Simien and her husband, Darrell, of Corona, California, Rhonda Watson and her husband, Stefan, of Moreno Valley, California, and Yolanda Lewis of Inglewood, California; and multiple uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many good friends. The Choctaw Nation Color Guard will provide military honors at the cemetery.
