Corey Keith Brumett

Corey Keith Brumett of Durant, OK went to heaven on Friday, July 14, 2017 at the age of 29. He was born on May 14, 1988 to Daniel Keith Brumett and Patricia Lee Benitez (Cusack) in Apple Valley, California. He attended Durant Public Schools then continued his education at Southeastern Oklahoma State University, and later graduated from The University of Oklahoma with a bachelor’s degree in business. He was employed at Gamco as a fabrication technician and loved his job immensely and was a perfectionist at his work. Corey was very passionate about his Sooners, The OKC Thunder and loved “Led Zeppelin”. If he wasn’t outdoors barbecuing, playing horseshoes or corn hole you could always find him “binge” watching Netflix or a good scary movie. Corey (Yeroc) was known for his sarcastic sense of humor, which included loving “Snakes & Sparklers”. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Bonnie and Earl Cusack and stepfather Roberto (Benny) Benitez. The ones that are left behind to cherish Corey’s memory are his mother, Patty Benitez of Newcastle, OK; father, Danny Brumett and step-mother, Susi of Las Vegas, NV; sister, Christie Brumett of Oklahoma City, OK; and his paternal grandparents Jerry and Frankie Brumett of Apple Valley, CA; along with many other family members and friends who were so very important to him. Services to honor Corey will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, July 22, 2017 at the Durant Middle School Auditorium with Pastor Jacob Toews officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery with Shawn Morales, Derek Collins, Alecs Cook, Jason Welch, Jeff Brumett, and Blake Harlin serving as pallbearers. Family will accept friends from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM Friday, July 21, 2017 at the Funeral Home. The family requests that all who attend honor Corey by wearing casual attire representing Oklahoma Sooners, OKC Thunder, or Led Zeppelin for the service.
