Danny Joe Martin

Madill, OK- Danny Joe Martin was born on Sunday, February 23, 1958 in Hobbs, New Mexico to Ivy Earl Martin and Sadie Bell (Reeves) Martin. Danny passed from his earthly body into the presence of the Lord on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 from his home at the age of 68. Danny grew up in Hobbs at an early age and his family moved to Irving, Texas where he graduated high school. Danny was a cowboy in his teen years riding horses and bulls. He worked his entire life as a truck driver. His first job was moving trailers and big rigs. Danny then worked for Sara Lee and for upstaging. He traveled all over the United States and Canada logging thousands of miles. His last employment was with Walmart in Sanger, Texas where he worked 10 years retiring in July 2024. Danny enjoyed traveling with his wife Carol whom he married on January 10, 2004 in Colbert, Oklahoma. They traveled to Australia, Yellowstone, Washington state and to the west coast. They also enjoyed camping at Thousand Trails in Gordonville, Texas. Danny loved watching rodeos, NASCAR and Fox News. Danny spent 24 years as a 32nd degree Mason and Scottish Rite. He was preceded in death by his parents. Danny is survived by his wife, Carol; sons, Jason Landis Martin of Bonham, Texas, and Christopher Daniel Martin and his wife Lynn of Colorado Springs, Colorado; daughters, Amy Renee Chester and her husband Ron of Dallas, Texas, Amanda Leigh Murphy of Chandler, Texas, Shannon Whtiworth and husband Jeff, Edana Stroberg and husband Jeff, and Kacee Robinson and significant other Jesse Johnson; sisters, Judy Moore of Irving, Texas, Dorothy Owen and husband Ross of Irving, Texas, and LaRenda Martin of Graham, Texas; grandchildren Lauren Chester, Phillip Chester, Holden Chester, Ryder Martin, Bently Martin, Willow Martin, Juiliana Martin, Zoey Martin, Abigail Chapman, Cortlyn Chapman, Remmington Martin, Asheur Zuazu, Alexia Whitworth, Liam Robinson, and Lydia Robinson.. A visitation will be held on Friday, April 24, from 6-8 PM at Brown’s Funeral Home in Durant. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 25, at Brown’s Funeral Home chapel in Durant with Bobby Smith officiating.
