Frances Magdalen Kaelke

Frances Magdalen (Young) Kaelke, 75, of Walnut, CA passed away on Monday, February 3, 2014 in Durant, OK to go be with her Heavenly Father. Frances was born on July 9, 1938 in Santa Monica, CA to Wesley and Johanna Belle (La Plante) Young. Frances attended high school in Hawthorne, CA. She earned her first Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Cal State University in Las Angeles and her second in Nursing from Rio Hondo College in Whittier, CA. She went on to earn her Master’s degree in Psychology from Pepperdine University in Las Angeles, CA. Frances was a Director of Nursing for many years. She was married to Richard Kaelke for 32 years before his passing in 2005. Frances then moved to Durant to be closer to her family in 2007. She was a Christian and loved being around her family. She loved to garden, especially with her roses, traveling, especially to Spain and Italy, classical music, opera was a favorite, reading, and crossword puzzles- the harder the better. Frances was involved in many organizations such as the Rose Society in California, as well as being a judge at the events, President of the Rose/Garden Club in Durant, Newcomer’s Club, and American Association of University Women. She also loved to volunteer at MCSO for four days a week with the Auxiliary group, and every Friday at the Three Valley Museum. Frances is preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Crozier in 1967, second husband, Richard Kaelke in 2005, her parents, brother and his wife, William and Clara Young. Frances is survived by daughter, Lenore Pfaff and husband Danny of Durant, daughter Valerie Hand and husband Robert of Dallas, OR, granddaughters; Lindsay Pfaff of Durant, Catherine Pfaff of Durant, and Jennifer Watson and husband Kenneth of Alexandria, VA, grandson Bruno Harris of Dallas, OR, granddog Maxwell Pfaff and many friends. Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 7, 2014 at 2:00PM at Three Valley Museum on 401 W. Main in Durant, OK. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make donations to the Three Valley Museum since their mother loved volunteering there.
