Helen Louise Aschenbeck

Helen Louise McKenzie Aschenbeck was born on November 11, 1934 in Bennington, OK to Elmer and Faye Pittman McKenzie and passed from this life on May 20, 2016 at her home in Silo, Ok at the age of 81. After graduating from the Chilocco Indian Boarding School in 4 years, she met and married the love of her life Bert Aschenbeck on April 7, 1954 in San Angelo, TX and they began raising their family. Helen and Bert moved to Bryan County 23 years and made their home in Silo. Helen was a faithful member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses Church and was very proud of her Indian heritage and the Choctaw Nation. Helen was an accomplished seamstress and was proud to make Native American clothing. But most of all she loved her family. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; son, Tommy Aschenbeck; grandsons, Preston Torres and Bert Thomas “Pacer” Aschenbeck; brother, Elmer McKenzie Jr.; sister, Sharon McKenzie; grandparents, Horace and Maggie Pittman and aunts and uncles, Clara Gatlin, Mary Parris, Carl Parris and Fred, Earl and Sol Pittman. Helen is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 62 years, Bert Aschenbeck of the home; children, Dena Torres (Robert) of Sherman, TX, Darrell Aschenbeck of Pottsboro, TX and Bernie Gill (Richard) of Deming, NM; sister, Ruby Tingle (Bill) of San Angelo, TX; aunt, Eula May Foote of Durant, OK; grandchildren, Saint Torres, Ashley Torres (Stefanie), Cody Aschenbeck, Cord Aschenbeck, Crystal Landers (Billy), Gino Bollier, Megan McCrea, Richie Gill, Garrett Gill, Shelly Gill and Brandy Aschenbeck Nail (Jeff) and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel. Henry Early Minister of Jehovah Witnesses will officiate. Interment will follow in Bennington Cemetery with Cord Aschenbeck, Cody Aschenbeck, Saint Torres, Ashley Torres, Robert Torres, Gerred Williams, Garrett Gill and Jeremy Williams serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Gino Bollier and Richie Gill. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM.
