Jan W. Newton 84 of Durant, Okla passed away on June 2nd, 2026. He was born on December 29, 1941, in Ada, Okla to Ran and Arvilla Newton. He was a truck driver for 40 years starting with one truck and eventually having his own trucking business with 7 trucks, he was a hard worker. He proudly served his country in the United States Army until his honorable discharge. He was a loving father, grandfather, and friend. He found joy in going to church, watching Big Bang Theory, Gunsmoke, John Wayne, and Fox News, OKC Thunder, Dallas Cowboys and OU Football. He loved to ride motorcycles and spend time with family. And he will be remembered for his generosity, kindness, easy going nature. Jan is survived by his daughter Janet Renae Little and husband Sid, Granddaughter Monica Nunley and husband Michael of Colbert, Ok, Granddaughter Christina Newton of Dallas, TX, Granddaughter Amanda Newton of Midwest City, Ok, Grandson Jeffery Newton and wife Tessa of Dallas, TX. Great Grandson Madden Nunley and Hannah Rodriguez, two Great Great Granddaughters, Brothers Van Newton of Durant, OK and Ricky Newton and wife Shaylin of Ft. Worth, TX, and Sister Luvenia King and husband Jim of Caldwell, TX. Jan is preceded in death by his wife of Faye Newton of 54 years, Son Johnny Newton, his parents Ran and Arvilla Newton, Grandson Christopher Newton, Sister n Law Rose Newton, Niece Kari King, Uncle Jay and Aunt Lila. A funeral service will be held on June 9th at 1:00PM at Browns Funeral Service Chapel Durant, Oklahoma. Jeff Hamblin and Lane Hietz will officiate. Interment will follow in Pittsburg Cemetery in Pittsburg, Oklahoma with Brett Newton, Nick Crouse, Jim Roberts, Daryl Wilson, Oliver Hamby, and Blake Dutton serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be David Turner, B.J. Albright, and Michael Crouse. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. A Meal will be served before the service on Tuesday, from 11:00 to 12:00 at the Durant Church of Christ at 5312 N. 1st Ave, Durant, Oklahoma. The family would like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice, Dayla Hamby and Sidney Little for their care and support. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
