Johnnie May McIntyre

Johnnie May McIntyre, 91 of Bennington, OK was born on January 31, 1932, at Timber Hill to Arthur and Ola (Bennett) Masters. Johnnie May passed from this life on November 11, 2023, at her home. Soon after graduating from Boswell High School, Johnnie May married the love of her life Lonnie Wesley McIntyre on August 12, 1950. Johnnie May was very independent and no stranger to hard work. She worked for Southwestern Bell, then went on to work 10 years at the Boswell Dress Factory and for 63 years she worked right beside her husband raising cattle, farming peanuts, baling hay, gardening, and canning. Johnnie May had many talents including the top rake hand in all of Bryan and Choctaw Counties, but she was truly famous for her homemade rolls and chocolate gravy. She made a pan of homemade cornbread and biscuits for her family every morning before she went to work. She loved her family, especially her children, but she often had to use her wooden paddle, in fact it is still hanging on her wall today. For 71 years of her life Johnnie May lived and worked in the Bethel Community on Rock House Road. Johnnie May is proceeded in death by her parents, her beloved husband and partner for life Lonnie McIntyre, infant brother Dean Masters, granddaughter Becky McIntyre. Johnnie May is survived by her children; Joyce Coffelt and husband Delmer of Cloudy, Ok, Glenda Vansickle and husband Mickey of Bennington, Ok and Wesley McIntyre and wife Donna of Boswell, OK. Grandchildren; Travis McIntyre, Macy Cartwright and husband Choc all of Bennington, OK, Hanna Sullins and husband Levi, of Wainwright, Ok and Calli Singh and husband Arminder of Bennington, OK. Great Grandchildren; Lucas Sullins, Benson Phillips and Harper Sullins. Numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel. David McIntyre and Tammy Nelson will officiate. Interment will follow in Restland Cemetery in Boswell, OK with Travis McIntyre, Choc Cartwright, Levi Sullins, Arminder Singh, Clay McIntyre, Scott McIntyre, and Clint Knight serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be David McIntyre, Tommy McIntyre, Mark McIntyre, and Steve McIntyre. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 7-9 PM.
