Margaret Alice Birdsong

Margaret Alice Birdsong was born June 8, 1920 to Bud and Altie (Boydston) Hill and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 26, 2015 at the age of 94 years, 9 months and 19 days. Margaret was born and raised in Caddo and has lived there most of her life. On October 14, 1940 Margaret and Delbert “Pete” Birdsong were united in marriage and spent forty-two years together until his passing on December 21, 1982. Margaret was a homemaker raising five boys. She loved spending time with her family, especially her children and her numerous grandchildren. In her free time Margaret enjoyed quilting, traveling with her brothers and sisters, cooking, baking, and couponing. Margaret and her dear friend, Marcell Jones, were well known in Caddo for making the most delicious donuts. Everyone in Caddo loved them. She loved to cook and sit back and enjoy watching her family enjoy her meals on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. She took pride in the fact that she taught her boys how to cook. She loved to share her recipes for her delicious pies and dressing. Margaret was known as the Queen of Couponing and she loved to teach others the art of couponing. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Caddo and she will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert “Pete” Birdsong; parents, Bud and Altie Hill; son, Jerry Birdsong; brothers, Thomas Hill and John Henry Hill; sister, Ann Alexander. Margaret is survived by her sons, Delbert Birdsong and wife Yvonne of Caddo, Gary Birdsong and wife Sue of Caddo, Mike Birdsong and wife Marilyn of Caddo, Frank Birdsong and wife Linda of Bokchito; brothers, Richard Hill and wife Ruby of Caddo, Jack Hill and wife Melba of Caddo; sister, Mary McKinney of Caddo; grandchildren, Darla Phipps and husband Joe, Devin Birdsong and wife Kristi, Danna Pierce, Cindy Birdsong, Michael Birdsong and wife Julie, Gregory Birdsong and wife Diana, April Hime and husband Max, Tim Birdsong and wife Amanda, Tasha Birdsong, Sabrina Birdsong; great-grandchildren, Zachary Phipps, Morgan Lowry, Spencer Phipps, Derek Birdsong, Dakota Robinson, Hunter Pierce, Jessica Birdsong, A.J. Birdsong, Jack Birdsong, Ryne Birdsong, Logan Hime, Hannah Hime, Noah Birdsong, Micah Birdsong, Hayden Birdsong, Thomas Birdsong; great-great-grandchildren, Paityn Lowry, Parker Lowry, Phallyn Lowry, Isaac Phipps, Foster Phipps; special friends, Marcell Jones and Mildred Sims; along with numerous other family and friends. Graveside services will be held Monday, March 30th at 10:00 AM at Gethsemane Cemetery in Caddo. Honorary pallbearers will be her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and Margaret’s special friends, Marcell Jones and Mildred Sims. Public viewing will be held Saturday and Sunday from 1:00-8:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
