Michele Morrison Powell

Michele Leigh Morrison Powell, 45, was born on October 31, 1969 in Denison, Texas to Mike and Anita (Peddy) Morrison. She passed from this life to her Heavenly home on May 7, 2015. Michele grew up in Durant, OK and attended Durant schools. She graduated from DHS in 1987 where she was on the gymnastics team that won the state tournament. She attended SOSU and Grayson College studying dental assisting. “Chele” moved to Austin, TX and worked for a dental surgeon for many years and then to Dallas and Denison to continue in the same field. Michele married Charles (Chuck) Allen Powell on May 12, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church in Caddo, OK. She loved her work and was dedicated and committed to being the best she could be. Michele loved exercising, taking photos of beautiful scenery, magnolias, animals and being with her family and friends. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Durant. Michele is survived by her husband Chuck Powell of the home; her precious Pomeranian, Jaxon Snow; parents, Mike and Anita Morrison of Durant; brother, Michael Shayne Morrison and wife Michelle of Bells, TX; aunts and uncles, Jimmy and Melinda Tucker of Durant, Benny and Juanita Bennett of Durant, Jack Peddy of Hugo, OK, Wayne and Sue Peddy of Irving, TX and Jimmy and Lori Peddy of Durant; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jessie and David Day of Woodville, TX; sister-in-law, Gina Youngberg of Grapevine, TX; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jerry and Nina Breaux of Port Arthur, TX and numerous extended family and loved friends. Michele was preceded in death by her grandparents, AV and Nellie Peddy and Bryce and Mary Francis Morrison and aunt and uncle, JoAnn and Marvin Coldiron. A memorial service to celebrate Michele’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel with Don Hyde officiating.
