Philip Don Dodd

Philip Don Dodd entered this life on May 20, 1951 in Madill, Oklahoma, born to Carless and Dortha (Doss) Dodd. Philip went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 1, 2015 in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 64 years, 6 months and 12 days. Philip attended school in Eunice, New Mexico until middle school, he then attended school in Durant until he graduated in 1969. He furthered his education at Southeastern State University, where he earned his certification to be a machinist. On August 14, 1971 in Bokchito, Oklahoma, Philip married the love of his life, Phyllis Bell. Philip served in the National Guard from 1969 to 1977, he then went to work in the oil field as a Rig Manager until the beginning of this year, when his health began to decline. Philip loved the outdoors, including camping and four wheelers. He made many fond memories with his family camping in the mountains in a cabin dearly described as “Heaven”. Philip was an avid golfer, and was exceptionally talented at the sport. He also loved classic and antique cars. He was a member of Kenefic Baptist Church. Philip will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. Preceding him in death are his father, Carless Dodd; niece, Amy Claborn; mother-in-law, Josephine Bell; and father-in-law, Buddy Bell. Philip is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Dodd of the home; mother, Dortha Dodd of Durant; daughter, Heather (Dodd) Collett and husband Jason of Calera, OK; son, Ronald Keith Dodd and wife Kandra of Kenefic, OK; grandchildren, Zachary Gaston, Auston Springer and Haydon Springer, of Kenefic, OK., Luke Mannon, Cody Collett, Miranda Collett and Jesse Collett, of Calera, OK.; brothers, Gary Dodd of Durant, OK., Jerrell Dodd of Shawnee, OK.; sisters, Kathy Ballard of Paris, TX., Brenda Claborn of Caddo, OK. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, December 4, 2015 at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel with Reverend Royce Couch officiating. The family will gather in the community room prior to service time. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Thursday, December 3, 2015 from 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Craig Whisenhunt, Wally Tucker, James Hamilton, Jeff Williams, William Bow and Darrell Northcott. Honorary pallbearers will be Melvin Horton, Steve Cosgrove, Vernon Bromlow, Buster Crawford, Lisa Foley, Raynette Blaine and Jill Hefferman. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to ProCure Proton Therapy Center, 5901 W. Memorial Rd., Oklahoma City, OK 73142.
