Sharon Kaye (Norman) Carlton

Sharon Kaye Carlton, 81 years of age, went to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by her family on July 21, 2024. Sharon was born on April 14, 1943, in Durant, Oklahoma to the late J.E. and Anna Louise (Roller) Norman. She was born and raised in Bryan County and lived there until she entered the gates of heaven. She attended Cobb schools where she graduated in May 1961. She married Jerry Dan Carlton on September 2, 1961, and they lived in Bryan County for 36 years until Jerry’s passing on December 3, 1997. She was a business office manager at the former Medical Center of Southeastern Oklahoma for 18 years before she retired to spend time with her grandchildren. Sharon and Jerry were active members of the Durant Round Club where she was crowned the rodeo queen in 1970. They attended 7th and Beech Church of Christ for many years. Sharon loved country music and to karaoke to her favorite country and western songs. Sharon loved the outdoors. One of her greatest pastimes was to go to the deer woods during Thanksgiving and camp with her boys and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing basketball at a young age and sewing for the public in her adult years. While making their home in Bryan County, together, Sharon and Jerry had three sons, Eddie, Mike, and Kevin. Her boys were her biggest blessing, and she was proud to be their mom. Sharon was witty and loved to have fun and laugh with her boys and grandchildren. Her family was her most important treasure in life. Sharon was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Carlton, parents, J.E. and Anna Louise Norman, and brother-in-law, Larry Wright. Sharon is survived by her sons, Eddie Carlton and wife Stephanie of Bokchito, Michael Carlton, Sr. and wife Peggy, of Yarnaby, Kevin Carlton and significant other Ami of Calera and bonus daughter, Kim Maxwell of Durant; sister Wilma Wright of Durant; niece Leslie Gregg and husband Chris of Durant, nephews Danny Wright and wife Lorrie of Durant, Joey Wright of Durant, and Neal Wright and wife Gayla of Lexington, Oklahoma. Grandchildren, Chance Carlton of Calera, Cole Carlton and wife Nikki of Calera, Michael Carlton, Jr, and wife Lauren of Yarnaby, Megan and husband Clayton of Bennington, Haylie Mata and husband Rey of Boswell, Christian McGowan of Bokchito, Mykah Carlton of Calera, and Callie Carlton of Calera; nine great grandchildren; special friend Elaine Whitmire and extended family and friends. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at Rosehill Cemetery in Calera. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM. Pallbearers are Chance Carlton, Cole Carlton, Michael Carlton Jr., Lex Carlton, Clancy Davis, and Danny Wright.
