Sue Nix

Sue Nix was born on February 16, 1947 in Bennington , Oklahoma to Elkin Edward and Thelma Mae Liles Percell and passed from this life on January 31, 2017 in Denison , Texas at the age of 69. Sue married her best friend and true love, Tommy Beal Nix on April 6, 1963 in Durant , Oklahoma and to this union was born two daughters. Sue worked as a beautician and also for the State of Oklahoma Tourism Department. Sue was a faithful member of Mead Baptist Church . She was a very talented basketball player and was a former member of a women’s basketball league. She loved to talk about her race car driving days. In her free time she loved sewing and enjoyed crocheting, gardening, fishing, boating, and camping but most of all she loved her family and friends and her grandchildren had a special place in her heart. Sue is survived by her husband of 53 plus years, Tommy Nix of the home; daughters, Tiana Sue Helms of Mead, OK and Tonya Lynette Whatley and husband Jason of Rockport, TX; grandchildren, Dyllon Helms and wife Arlene, Dakota Stinson, Celesta Stinson, Savana Parnell and Scott Whatley; great grandchild, Garrett Helms; brother, Jackie Darrell Percell and wife Marsha and numerous extended family and friends. Sue was preceded in death by her parents and brothers and sister, Alpha Jewell Miller, Herman Franklin Percell, David Edward Percell and John Estel Percell. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel. Bro. Kerry Groce and Bro. Danny Miller will officiate. Interment will follow in Mead Cemetery with Dyllon Helms, Dakota Stinson, Jason Whatley, Anthony Nix, Jamie Percell, and Shannon Percell serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jackie Percell, Chad Stinson, and Kenneth Helms. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6-8 PM.
