Terry Lee Murphy Jr.

Terry Lee Murphy Jr., age 43, passed away on April 9, 2026. He was born on May 18, 1982, in Ada, Oklahoma, to Terry and Ellen Murphy, his early years were shaped by the close bonds of family and community. In 1995, the family moved to Durant, Oklahoma, where Terry graduated from Durant High School in 2000. Terry, affectionately known as "Jr," was a man of many talents and a dedicated worker. He built a respected career as a welder at ACS Manufacturing LLC and also pursued his passions as a skilled mechanic and truck driver. Jr was known for his boundless curiosity and hands-on approach, always eager to lend a hand or share a story about his latest project. His greatest joys came from a love of working on small engines, heading out to catch big catfish, and spending meaningful time with his family. Jr's laughter and warmth filled every room, and he was always ready with a joke or a helping hand. Deeply spiritual and connected to the land, Jr found great peace in nature, whether that meant sitting by the water’s edge or exploring the outdoors with loved ones. He was preceded in death by his beloved father, Terry Lee Murphy Sr. He is survived by his devoted mother, Ellen Murphy of Durant, Oklahoma; siblings Charlie and Shoshanah Davis of Kenific, Dominic Ortiz of Denison, Texas, Jeremy and April Updegraff of Kingston, Oklahoma, and Terry Joe Murphy of Tishomingo; and his cherished nieces and nephews: Nickita and Brodie Davis, Dakota, Colton, Blaze, and Hannah Ortiz, Jeremiah and Emerald Updegraff, and Tyler Murphy. Jr was also deeply in love with Marsha Lancaster (Booper’s) of the home, who was his constant companion and greatest source of happiness. Jr treasured his extended family and friends, always making time for gatherings, celebrations, and quiet moments alike. His generosity, loyalty, and genuine kindness touched the lives of many, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and hard work. He will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, adventurous spirit, and the deep love he shared with his family and friends. Jr taught those around him the importance of living authentically, cherishing simple pleasures, and caring deeply for others. His memory will live on in the countless lives he touched, and the stories shared by those who knew him best. A memorial service for Terry will be held on Wednesday, April 15, at 10:00 A.M. at Brown's Funeral Service chapel. Services are under the direction of Brown's Durant Funeral and Cremation Services.
