Zelma "Jo" Clymore

Zelma “Jo” Cooper Clymore was born on May 17, 1925 although she would argue she was born on May 16, 1926 in Durant, Oklahoma to the late William “Bill” and Mary (Gaither) Cooper and passed from this life on January 23, 2017 in Colbert, Oklahoma at the age of 91. Zelma attended school in Blue, OK and later worked as a telephone operator until she married the love of her life, Andy Clymore on May 26, 1947. They left Bryan County as Andy’s job as an iron worker took him all throughout the United States. In 1977 they returned home to enjoy their retirement and their grandchildren. They were united in marriage for 39 years until Andy’s passing on March 9, 1986. “Mamaw” as she was known to all enjoyed shopping with her daughter and granddaughter. She spent 20 years going to and cheering on her grandchildren in their sporting activities. She continued to drive up until her 90th birthday and she always enjoyed going on trips with her nieces, Judie Davis and Sue Ann Simmons Holliman. She loved her best friend, Joyce Fuller and husband Bill and was thankful for favorite nurse Leah Dunaway Clymore and thought a lot of Rikki Lou Clymore. She even got to where she thought her son in law Kerry was the greatest person on earth. Zelma “Jo” will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Zelma is survived by her children, Rick Clymore of Durant, OK and Connie Carr and husband Kerry of Utica, OK; grandchildren, Casey Carr and wife Jana of Denison, TX, Kellie Baker and husband Dusty of Ravenna, TX, Brock Clymore of Durant, OK, Hunter Clymore and wife Laura of Aledo, TX, Courtney Daniel and husband Brad of Durant, OK and Dylan Clymore and wife Bri of Durant, OK; 13 great grandchildren; sister Priscilla Schriewer of Houston, TX; sister in law, Ann Cooper of Durant, OK and numerous extended family and friends. Zelma is preceded in death by parents; husband; sisters, Lottie Mae Davis, Juanita Loyd and Madge Benrook and brothers, Son, Billy and Jerry Cooper. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery with Casey Carr, Brock Clymore, Dusty Baker, Hunter Clymore, Bo Baker, Dylan Clymore and Brock Baker serving as pallbearers.
