Anne Jackson

Lavonia Anne Jackson, Durant, Oklahoma, passed away on August 8, 2009. Anne was born to the late Thomas and Dosha White on October 16, 1932 in Poteau, Oklahoma. Anne grew up in Poteau and was a graduate of Poteau High School. After graduation, she attended a Business College in Oklahoma City. Anne married her high school sweetheart, Dempsey Jackson in 1950. The celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 2000. Anne and Dempsey moved their family to Durant in 1967. Even though Anne was a busy homemaker and mother to 5 children, she quickly became an active member of the 7th and Beech Church of Christ. Throughout the years, she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Extension Homemakers Club, and Cub Scout leader. Anne was also an award – winning salesperson with Avon cosmetics. Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Dosha White; husband, Dempsey Jackson; daughter, Cindy Ray; grandson, Haven Giles; brothers, Allen and Bob White; and sister, Nancy White. Anne is survived by her daughters, Ginger Chauncey and husband George of Denison, TX and Demie Estupinan of Gallup, NM; sons, Dempsey “Butch” Jackson of Bonham, TX and Robert Jackson and wife Susan of Frisco, TX; sister, Thomasine Ryburn of Independence, MO; grandchildren, Patrick Davis, Catherine Chauncey, Blaze Couch, Nate Kitchingham, Daniel Estupinan, Chelsea Ray, Dalton Ray, Aryn Jackson, Addyson Jackson and Ainsley Jackson. Anne was also a proud great grandmother to 7. Anne was a strong believer in the salvation of Jesus Christ and her family finds comfort that she has been reunited with her many loved ones in death. Anne will be remembered as a loving friend, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who selflessly gave of herself to better her community and each of her loved ones lives. A celebration of Anne’s life will be held on Friday, August 14th, 10:00 at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel in Durant, OK. John Curtis will officiate.
