Gregg Lee Lewis sashayed away from this world in Seminole county on Tuesday July 19th 2022. Gregg was born on January 21,1977 in Denison, Texas to Raymond Eugene Lewis and Lacquita J. Love Lewis. Gregg grew up in Durant, Oklahoma where he graduated from Durant High School in 1995. After graduation he pursued his education at the University of Oklahoma earning his Degree in Native American Studies and becoming a paralegal. After college he pursued his career working for the OILS (Oklahoma Indian Legal Services) and Bureau of Indian affairs. Gregg was passionate and dedicated to his career to be able to help all his clients and family in Indian country. A proud two spirit warrior and avid storyteller and purveyor of Native heritage and wisdom. During his time working in Indian country Gregg immersed himself into the different native cultures gaining knowledge and relationships that will last a lifetime. Gregg was a lifetime member of Grace Indian Baptist Church of Achille, Oklahoma since his childhood. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Eugene Lewis, Grandmothers Elsie” Pittah” Lewis and Bertha Jean Lewis, grandfathers Robert “Trouble” Lewis, Raymond Edward Lewis and Wadis Love. Gregg is survived by his fur children Furlow (no relation to the creek Lowes) and HDUB of the home. mother Lacquita Lewis of Durant, Oklahoma, brother Colton Lewis of Durant, Oklahoma, brother Brandon Lewis of Tulsa, Oklahoma and children Nevar and Eva Lewis of Tennessee. Cousins Bobby and Amery Lewis, Melinda and Jesse Farrell, Christopher and Ruby Ecklund, Jay Garrett, Stoney Love, Elly and Bobby Ledford, Tommy and Amber Lewis, and lifetime best friend Amanda Jervis of Durant, Oklahoma and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Gregg was an outgoing person who never knew a stranger. When Gregg was not working in Indian country, he was out on the town in the big city with his best friend of 20 years Amanda Jervis, Nathan Jones, and numerous friends that became a family. The big city is a huge part of his life where he lived, but his home will always be Durant, Oklahoma. Gregg would make his presence known with his iconic Facebook update “Bryan County did you feel that? Gregg Lewis is home!!” while heading to get Taco Casa. While home Gregg made his rounds to all family and friends. Greggs favorite past times included hitting the casino with his mom and Amanda hoping to hit that winning jackpot to throwing back cold ones with family and friends taking their money in a friendly game of Snap Ayeee.
