Thomas Norman Wilson Bokchito, OK- Thomas Norman Wilson was born Thursday, July 10, 1919 in rural Bokchito, Oklahoma to Thomas Alvin Wilson and Georgia Ann Manilla (Reed) Wilson. He departed this life into the presence of our Lord on Thursday, January 6, 2022 in Denison, Texas at the age of 102. Norman attended school and lived most of his long life in the Bokchito area. Norman, a World War II veteran, proudly served in the United States Army from February 10, 1941 until his honorable discharge on October 10, 1945. Corporal Wilson was a recipient of the Purple Heart, American Defense Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, and two Bronze Battle Stars. Immediately upon returning from war, Norman renewed his courtship with his sweetheart, Delores Wall. They married in Durant on October 19, 1946. Norman and Delores raised their family and resided in the Bokchito area their entire lives. Delores passed away on April 11, 2010. Norman was a farmer/rancher and dearly loved growing cotton, peanuts, and corn. He enjoyed caring for his livestock, raising pigeons as a hobby and playing 42. Norman was a devoted husband and father. He was of the Baptist faith, and he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior when he was a young man. Because he highly valued education, he served as a member and as president of the Bokchito School Board throughout the 1970’s and into the early 1980’s. Norman was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Norma Kay (Wilson) Byfield; siblings, Mable Wilson, Sidney Carrol Wilson, Durwood Eugene Wilson, Burl Dean Wilson, Glenda Bea (Wilson) Abernathy, Dorothy Lea (Wilson) Hogg, and Mardell Wilson. He is survived by his sons, Norman D. Wilson and his wife, Judy, of Lubbock, TX, Luther Neville Wilson and his wife, Lynn, of North Branch, MN, and J. Myron Wilson and his wife, Susie, of Bokchito, OK; a sister, Alma Faye (Wilson) Taylor, and her husband, Russell, of Benton, LA; grandchildren, Jeffrey Norman Wilson (Carmen), Nathan James Wilson (Andrea), Leith Elisabet Tews (Jacob), Jessica Lynn Newhouse (Jeremy), Timothy Neville Wilson (Heidi), Benjamin Thomas Wilson, Stephen Kyle Byfield and Stephanie Kayla Dawson (Jacob); 23 greatgrandchildren and a host of extended family members and friends. Funeral services for Norman Wilson will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, January 17, in Brown’s Funeral Service chapel in Durant with Bro. Anthony Williams officiating. Committal services will follow at Bokchito Cemetery with Jeffrey Wilson, Nathan Wilson, Benjamin Wilson, Kyle Byfield, Wendell Jeffreys and Clinton Hoffman serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers are Douglas Deel, Timothy Wilson (Captain USAF), Jacob Dawson, Kerry Hendershot, Rodney Jeffreys, and Bro. Fred Ward. Military rites will be rendered at the cemetery by the Ft. Sill Funeral Honors Team stationed at Lawton, OK. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 16, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Home. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.brownsfuneralservice.com.
