“The Lord has come to take our Angel Home.” Ellen Lucille McAdams, 84, of Terre Haute, Indiana and formerly of Durant was born on June 21, 1925 in Durant to Tom and Eliza (Shackelford) Grider and passed from this life on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 in Terre Haute, Indiana. Ellen attended school in Durant and later married Johnnie McAdams in 1942 in Durant. Ellen has been a resident of Durant since 1981 until the last few years of her life where she lived with children in Indiana. Ellen was a dedicated daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. Ellen was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles # 291 in Terre Haute, Indiana and was of the Pentecostal faith. She enjoyed quilting, crossword puzzles and spending time with family and friends. Ellen deeply loved her church and her Lord and Savior. Ellen will be greatly missed by all who knew and dearly loved her. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughters, Betty Nadine and Debra Marie; 4 sisters, Faye Ritter, Lorraine Buchanan, Desi Smittey and Grace Wagoner; and brother, Edgar Grider. Those loved ones left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Kathryn Havens and husband Grady of Hawkins, TX, Linda Reynolds and James Doughty of Madill, OK, Ellen Puzio and husband Pete of Calera, OK, Wanda Towler and husband Sam of Kingston, OK, Ruthie Martin and husband Terry of Big Cabin, OK, Connie Mitchell and husband Gerry of Durant, OK, Kenard McAdams and wife Ella of Aubrey, TX, John McAdams and wife Patty of Atoka, OK, David McAdams and wife Dawn of Terre Haute, IN, Danny McAdams and wife Susan of Indianapolis, IN, Tommy McAdams and wife Betty of Terre Haute, IN and Sammy McAdams and wife Beth of Bokchito, OK; 38 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and many nieces; nephews; and friends. A celebration of Ellen’s life will be held on Wednesday, February 10th, 2:00 PM at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel. Rev. Grady Ford and Rev. Jack Ball will officiate. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery with George McAdams, Keith Havens, Kenard McAdams, Denny Cranford, Shaun McAdams and James McAdams serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Brandon McAdams, John Newport, Jesse Becker, Brandon Wagoner, Aaron McAdams and Kevin Carlock.
