Gary "Hawkeye" Michael Roberts

Gary “Hawkeye” Michael Roberts of Durant, OK passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018 in Denison, TX at the age of 69. He was born on December 22, 1948 in Talihina, OK to Belvia Murray. Gary married Lillie Airington on March 23, 1973. They spent 45 wonderful years together. He served our country in the United States Army and fought in the Vietnam War until his Honorable Discharge on February 15, 1970. Gary worked as a concrete finisher and was of the Pentecostal faith. In his spare time, he enjoyed, coon hunting and watching boxing and wrestling on tv. Gary was a friend to many and was loved and respected by all. The greatest joy in his life were his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mother, Belvia Murray; grandmother, Seleah Mintz; brothers, Steve Roberts and Bruce Powell; sister, Phyllis Murray, and daughter Paula Roberts. Survivors include his loving wife, Lillie Roberts of the home; daughter, Regina Matlock and husband Phillip; four sons, Christopher Roberts and wife Susan; Kevin Roberts and wife Maranda; Gary Bo Roberts; Justin Roberts and wife Callie; sisters, Carol Ann Slover, Bimmy Murray, Joni Murray; brother, Johnny Murray; aunts Jane Mintz and Charlene Tidwell; 14 grandchildren, Amber Brinlee, Johnathon Brinlee, AJ Brinlee, Jared Matlock, Michael Matlock, Destiny Minton, Rhett Matlock, Christopher “Bubba” Roberts, Casyn Roberts, Cash Roberts, Blaine Roberts, Kalyn Roberts, Riley Jo Roberts, and Miller Roberts; 11 great-grandchildren and many other extended family members and dear friends. Services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel in Durant with Pastors William Airington and Bill Daniels officiating. Interment will follow in Lehigh Cemetery with Jared Matlock, Michael Matlock, Rhett Matlock, Johnathon Brinlee, AJ Brinlee, Bubba Roberts, and Blaine Roberts serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Lathe Armstrong, Paul Stanford, Benny Holt, and Ronnie Jo Richardson. Family will accept friends at the Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00PM.
