Helen Jean Roberson Wakely December 7, 1929- April 27, 2020 Helen Jean Roberson Wakely, age 90, of Durant Oklahoma passed peacefully in her home surrounded by friends and family. She was born on December 7, 1929 to her parents D.J Roberson and Ethel (Cleveland) Roberson in Cimarron, Kansas. She graduated from Kemp HS in 1949. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University while working and raising her teenaged son. She married John Wakely III in 1990 and was madly in love with him for 29 years. Helen had a very diverse work history as an office administrator, real estate agent and sales manager. She was also highly involved in her community. Those activities included the Non-Commissioned Officer’s Wive’s Organization while her husband, Gene Rogers was stationed at the Air Force Academy, going on a mission trip to Russia (age 66) and volunteering with Families Feeding Families in Durant OK. Helen had many hobbies over the years. She absolutely loved to travel. Her favorite place to travel was Yellowstone. Not only did she and her John visit Yellowstone for three consecutive years they also worked at an RV park. Helen also enjoyed playing various card games and boardgames. When it came to playing games, she played to win. It didn’t matter who she was playing either. She showed no mercy, not even to her children or grandchildren. She absolutely loved her church family and missed them dearly when her health would no longer allow her to attend. Helen is proceeded in death by her parents, D.J and Ethel Roberson, her brothers Curtis Roberson, Clyde Roberson and C.R. Roberson as well as former husbands John Wakely III, Gene Rogers and Bill Neil. Helen is survived by her children: Connie Burnett, Durant, OK; Mindi Jones, Denison TX; Mark Rogers and wife Vickie, White Oak, TX; Joyce Carrington and husband Don, Tulsa Oklahoma; Jonetta Wakely Skiatook, OK; Kay Sowinski and husband Larry, Tulsa OK; Marjorie Robertson and husband Kent, Kingston OK; John D. Wakely IV and wife Suzonne, Kingston OK; Senia Bell and husband Shawn, Pauls Valley, OK; her sister Laverne McPherson and husband James of Gun Barrel City, TX. Grandchildren: Bryan Burnett, Durant, Oklahoma; Brandon Camp, Denison, TX; Brent Camp and fiancé Kacie, Denton TX; Dylan Rogers and fiancé Danyel, League City TX; Jack Rogers and fiancé Kristen, Pearland, TX; Bard Burnett and wife Nina, Troy MI; Tracey Russel and husband Randy, Corpus TX; Lance Jones and wife Chandler, Denison TX; Nikki Hawkins and husband Brian, Denison TX; Eric Moore and Wife Jennifer, Kingston OK; Allison Wakely Kingson OK; Lane Bell, Pauls Valley OK; Averyl Bell, Pauls Valley Ok. Great Grand Children: Kylee Burnett, Southlake TX; Cade Burnett, Southlake TX; Kira Burnett, Troy MI; Marissa Burnett, Troy MI; Roni Douda, Denison TX; Rhett Douda, Denison, TX; Riley Moore, Kingston OK. Helen was blessed with many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also blessed with many sons, daughters and grandchildren not all from her womb but all from the families of her heart.
