Durant, OK- Jay L. Dillard, 63, passed from this life into his Eternal home on Thursday night, July 9, 2026 in Durant. Jay was born on Tuesday, September 4, 1962 in El Centro, California to O.P. Dillard and Jannie Elizabeth (Yeager) Dillard. Jay and his family came to Durant from California in 1977. He graduated from Durant High School in 1980 and attended and graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 1986. Jay was a very simple man. He enjoyed watching just about every sport on television and rarely missed a game. He was a devoted dog lover who found great joy in the companionship of his pets. During his working years, he was employed at Taco Tico, Kemps BBQ, Walmart and Texas Instruments where he built lasting friendships. Although health limited his ability to travel later in life, he stayed closely connected with family and friends through social media. Jay had a remarkable memory for family history, birthdays, and important milestones, making him the one many turned to for stories, dates, and treasured family memories. He valued those connections deeply and never stopped caring about people he loved. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lynn Dillard; and a nephew, Jered Dillard. Jay is survived by his brothers, Olin Dillard Sr. and his wife, Terri of Killeen, Texas, and Joe Dillard and his wife, Kelly of Durant; nephew, Olin Dillard Jr. and wife, Sarah of Valley View, Texas; niece, Kimberly Green and husband, Micheal of Salado, Texas; nephew, Justin Dillard and his wife, Calli of Durant; nephew, Kevin Head of Durant; nephew, Danny Dillard and his wife, Heather of Henrietta, Texas; a sister-in-law, Karen Dillard of Henrietta, Texas; ex-wife and friend, Sherrie Dillard of Durant; and many, aunts, uncles, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and good friends. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, July 18, at Brown’s Funeral Home chapel with Pastor David Kautt officiating. Jay will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery following chapel services.
