Jenna B. Huggins

Jenna Bee (Barnes) Huggins was born to Oscar and Dorothy Barnes in Cameron, OK, on November 26, 1938, the youngest of three children. After her mother passed away four months after Jenna was born, she and her beloved brother and sister, Oscar Dawson (O.D.) and Dorma Lee, were raised by their maternal grandparents, Mollie and Oscar Ballard. Jenna and Andrew Lynzy (A.L.) Huggins met as teens in 1952 and were married in Cameron, OK, on December 20, 1955. A.L. served as an Airman in the United States Air Force in Knob Noster, Missouri, and was honorably discharged in 1957, using GI Bill funding to pursue an education degree at Southeastern State College. After graduating, they lived in Sherman, TX, Muse, OK, Albion, OK, and Shady Point, OK. A.L. was an educator and Jenna was a homemaker until she decided to pursue an education degree. Jenna graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University with a Master’s in Education. She taught her entire career at Caddo Public Schools, from 1974 – 1997. She taught both 2nd and 3rd grades for one year each and the remainder of her career was spent in 1st grade. She felt blessed to have been part of the Caddo community and prayed to have been a help to the young people who she was honored to have taught. One of her favorite pastimes was to share the achievements of her former students and see that they were still doing well as adults. Jenna valued her relationship with God and her faith in Jesus Christ more than anything else. She loved to share the love of God with everyone she encountered, often offering a reminder that “God is in control” to encourage others during difficult times. Jenna was a source of love and comfort to her family, friends, and anyone else she encountered. Jenna’s love for her family was second only to her faith. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was proud of every one of them. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, and two siblings. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Andrew L Huggins, and her three children Ricky and Donna Huggins of Heavener, OK, Andrea and Chuck Holder of Caddo, OK, and Amy and Teddy Gabbart of Caddo, OK, along with 9 Grandchildren: Blake Huggins and wife Lindsey of Somerville, MA, Landon Johnson and wife Elise of Durant, OK, Danielle Huggins Pope and husband Taylor of Van Buren, AR, Hillarie Lairamore and husband Ryan of Poteau, OK, Ashton Gabbart of Dallas, TX, Alexis Gabbart and husband Yaman Kharsa of The Colony, TX, Harmonie Stilwell and husband Paul of Charleston, AR, Adyson Gabbart of Durant, OK, and Graceon Huggins of Heavener, OK and 8 Great Grandchildren. She also leaves behind many other family members, dear friends, and countless others she influenced with her love and kindness. A celebration of Jenna's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at Brown's Funeral Service of Durant. Committal services will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery in Caddo OK. Blake Huggins, Landon Johnson, Ashton Gabbart, Graceon Huggins, Hal Gullick, and Chuck Holder will serve as pallbearers.
