Edward Lee Wood March 27, 1956 – June 19, 2025 Edward Lee Wood, age 69, passed from this life on Thursday, June 19, 2025, in Sherman, Texas. He was born on March 27, 1956, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, to his parents, Hubbard L. Wood Jr. and Catherine "Cat" Wood. Lee moved to Durant in 1969 from Scott Air Force Base in Belleville, Illinois, and made it his lifelong home. He graduated from Durant High School in 1975 and married Jannista Boaen on September 15, 1984, in Calera, and they began their lives together. Lee did a bit of everything throughout his career, but was most passionate about his archery shop, Crooked Oak Archery. A true outdoorsman at heart, he had a love for horticulture and was an avid hunter and skilled taxidermist. He often spent time carefully tanning deer hides and preserving the beauty of wildlife. In his retirement, he had Lee’s Small Engine and Repair shop, where he shared his time, knowledge, and love for fixing things with his hands. Lee is preceded in death by his parents, Hubbard and Catherine Wood. Lee is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jannista Wood of Durant, OK; daughter, Jannaca Hardison and husband Adam of Calera, OK; brother, Jeff Wood and wife Carla of Durant, OK; granddaughter, Brooklynn Hardison of Calera, OK; niece, Terami Parks and husband Jason of Anna, TX; nephew, Michael John DeSandre and wife Brandi of Little Elm, TX; niece, Chelsea Hull and husband Ty of Tishomingo, OK; nieces, Jordan and Presley Wood of Durant, OK; nephew, Ryan Wood and wife Lindsay of McKinney, TX and numerous extended family and friends. A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Brown’s Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma, with Frankie Hill officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Alan Bowers, Gary Dodd, Steve Harlin, Kenny Perry, Kim Phillips, Trent Townsend, Steve Wilson, and Joe Wakefield.
