Rosalie "Dansby" Mitchell

Rosalie “Dansby” Mitchell, 74 of Durant went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, November 14, 2016 at her home. She was born on October 29, 1942 in Durant to DT “Dan” and Eula (Studdard) Dansby. Rosalie graduated from Durant High School in 1961 and later married Billy “Jack” Mitchell on March 24, 1963 in Durant , Oklahoma . Rosalie moved to Bryan County in 1958 from Glover , Oklahoma . She was self-employed working in book keeping, payroll for several local businesses. Rosalie enjoyed sports, softball, basketball, and bowling. She received numerous awards and recognition for being the grade school basketball champions as well as the 1986 Women USSSA Class C State Champions. Rosalie believed in serving her fellow man, and as many would proclaim she truly had the gift of mercy. She was a member of Victory Life and also served on several different ministries such as Victory Life food bank and was heavily involved in the Tape Ministry. Rosalie also loved spending time at Lake Texoma . She will be missed by all that knew and loved her. Survivors include her husband Billy “Jack” Mitchell of Utica; daughter, Charla Hutchinson and husband Jimmie of Utica; son, Harrell Mitchell of Ft. Worth, TX; brothers, Bill “Bud” Dansby and wife Betty of Rattan, Truman Dansby and wife Kay of FT. Worth, TX; sisters, Selantha “Sally” Carter of Las Vegas, NV, Geneva Farrington and husband Sonny of Mead, OK; grand daughter, Katy Landry of Durant, OK; grand sons, Weston Mitchell of Utica, OK, Austin Mitchell of Ft. Worth, TX, Bryce and Kyle Hutchinson of Utica, OK. She was preceded in death by her parents; and infant sister Virginia Kay Dansby. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at the Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel with Bro Phillip Roland and Pastor Ann Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery Durant, Ok. Family night will be held Tuesday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Browns’ Funeral Service, Durant. Pallbearers will be Kory Thames, Keith Sikes, Kenny Mitchell, Anthony Winnet, Bobby Gene Mitchell and Thomas Greenhaw. In Lieu of flowers please make donations to the Victory Life Church food bank in honor of Rosalie Mitchell.
