Syble (Swarts) Jones

Syble Geneva (Swarts) Jones was called home to be with her Lord on October 26, 2013, in Denison, TX at the age of 85 Years and 2 months after a short illness. She was born August 28, 1928 in Haworth, Oklahoma to Lee Swarts and Bertie (Randolph) Swarts. She grew up in the Haworth/Idabel area with her 4 sisters. She graduated from Haworth High School. After graduation Syble married and moved to California where she worked for the Civil Service Administration until the birth of her son Bruce Sargent. Later, she returned to Oklahoma to be near her family and she met Floyd (Stub) Jackson Jones. They were married and blessed with a daughter, Beth Ann. Syble had a long Career in the banking industry. She served as a loan officer at Durant Bank and Trust for 21 years. In the fall of 1976, Syble decided she wanted to make some changes in her life. Her daughter and son were grown, and she was now a widow. So, she decided to fulfill a longtime dream and enrolled in college to pursue a degree in Accounting. While attending S.O.S.U. Syble excelled and was selected as a member of Pi Omega Pi and other professional organizations. She made many new friends who would become important facets in her life. Upon graduation, she was offered a job as a professor in the Business Department at S.O.S.U. where she taught Accounting for the next 10 years. Syble loved her new career and was an active member of the Academic Community where she devoted herself to her students. After retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at the Senior Citizen Center and was active in her women’s church group. Syble assumed another role when her daughter was diagnosed with MS. She became Beth Ann’s caregiver. She gave Beth Ann the love, encouragement and strength to preserver and continue her career even after her diagnosis. Syble was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Bertie Swarts; stepmother, Mary Lloyd Swarts; husband, Stub Jones; son, Bruce Sargent; sisters, Opal Green, Clarcie Dollarhide, Marie Erhardt, and Loraine Storey. She is survived by her beloved daughter Beth Ann (Jones) Maples and a number of loving nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that friends contribute to the Charity of their choice. No Service will be held as per Syble’s request. Instead, the family is planning a private remembrance ceremony to be held at a later date in her beloved Idabel where she and her family spent many happy years. PDF Printable Version
